2013 PSNH 5th Annual National Juried Exhibition, It’s Pastel!

October 24th through November 30th
Discover Portsmouth Center Gallery

Juror of Selection: Fred Somers
Juror of Awards: Gigi Horr Liverant

Gigi Horr Liverant

Gigi gave a demonstration at 2:00 pm, Saturday, October 26 at the Discover Center in Portsmouth, NH and donated one of her paintings to be auctioned during the reception. The winner was Judy McKenna. Gigi’s artwork celebrates rich color with a method that includes the use of small studies in order to translate her inspiration into a cohesive painting. Using a variety of pastel brands on a prepared board, Gigi  demonstrated her technique and how the small study helps to transform her idea into a larger artwork. The demonstration was executed in two phases; the first was the beginning of a new painting using photo reference, a thumbnail sketch and a small study. The second phase demonstrated the resolution process of a painting already in progress. Gigi will have samples of various pastel brands, boards, fixative, and other materials to share and discuss.

Gigi Horr Liverant is the recipient of numerous awards and honors including Best in Show at the Connecticut Pastel Society, the Richard McKinley Mentorship Award, the Andrew Giffuni Memorial Award, and the Diane Bernhardt Gold Medal Award all at the Pastel Society of America Annual Exhibition. She is a Pastel Society of America Master Pastelist and a Signature Member of the Connecticut Pastel Society. She has been featured in the Pastel Journal and the Artist’s Magazines. She maintains a studio in Colchester, Connecticut.
