Cross Borders Pastel Connections Logo

To promote awareness and appreciation for pastels as an art medium, the Pastel Society of New Hampshire (PSNH) and the Pastel Painters of Maine (PPOM) sponsored a successful collaborate exhibit for June 2016 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire at the Robert Lincoln Levy Gallery.

Cross-Border Pastel Connections allows a maximum of 70 artists from either or both groups to exhibit the beauty and versatility of pastel. You need only to belong to one of these organizations and be current in your membership dues.

A reception for the show was held in the Robert Lincoln Levy Gallery on 136 State Street, during Art Around Town night, June 3rd,  in Portsmouth.

Demo was given by Jacob Aguiar, Pastel Society of America Signature Member. Jacob is a nationally recognized artist who teaches pastel workshops locally and nationally. He has won numerous awards, including two honorable mentions in the landscape category of Pastel 100 in 2015 and 2016.

The societies raffled a Girault Elizabeth Mowry “Poetic Landscape” wooden box, 102 pastel stick set with a retail value of $460. Funds generated from this raffle will be used to facilitate future collaborative activities and events. The winner of the raffle  raffle drawing held Saturday, June 25, 2016, at the New Hampshire Art Association, was Pastel Society of N.H. member Barbara Scott.
